Mar 16, 2017

Skyrim is a very unique game. It has a lot of aspects that people love. It is an open world role playing game that has seriously awesome fantasy elements. The following games are all available and still receive some support from their developers. They all have these open world RPG elements that we know to love from Skyrim. The most obvious answer to the question of which games you’ll enjoy if you enjoy Skyrim are the games that proceeded it. Skyrim is just one game in a franchise of Elder Scrolls games. There are four games prior to Skyrim, and although they are a bit older, they are still an amazing series that you will easily get hundreds of hours out of.

The first thing I suggest doing is that if you are playing Skyrim for the PC, check out the modding community. People live to mod Skyrim and it has become one of the most heavily modded games out there for the PC. If you aren’t familiar, check out a tutorial on YouTube about modding on Skyrim. It can really change the game. They added updated graphics, new quests, and even new characters for you to play as. Without further adieu, here are 5 games that aren’t Skyrim that you will absolutely love if you love Skyrim!

  1. Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor

Released in 2014, Middle Earth Shadows of Mordor is open world RPG that takes place in the amazing world of the Lord of the Rings. If you are a fan of that Lord of the Rings fantasy world, then you’ll most definitely love this game. Similar to Skyrim, this game has a rank up system where you can level up and upgrade certain elements and tune your character to the way you want to play.

This game also features an open world with tons of places to explore and tons of unique characters to meet. There is almost no limit to the places you can go in this game, and you can even go to some of the notable places that you see in the movies or read about in the books.

This game is available for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Play Station 3 and 4, and of course PC.

  1. Dragon Age: Inquisition

This is another Open world RPG that is a must play if you are a fan of Skyrim. This is unique because it is centered around a fantasy universe where dragons rule and you are a character who has some unique powers. Much like Skyrim, you’ll be able to explore the world and play the game in whichever way you prefer. You can make your character a spell caster, a warrior, a ranger, or anything in between, the possibilities are actually endless.

With this game, you can actually go online and play a multiplayer version of the game that takes you through the story with your friends. You can all team up and create unique characters and dive into this fantasy world together, taking on the dragons and the demons and help save the world from all of the evil that inhabits it. This game is also amazing and known for its music. This game is actually part of an entire franchise of games like Skyrim, and even if you haven’t played any of the games, this will give you full Skyrim experience without missing out on anything.

This game is available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and 4, and the PC.

  1. Dark Souls

Now some may consider this a stretch, but if enjoy the RPG element of Skyrim and want something significantly more difficult, than Dark Souls is definitely the game for you. Dark Souls is noted as being one of the most difficult games to have been ever created. Similar to Skyrim, you can choose how your character plays. You can create a character that uses spells, or you can do something different and only upgrade your strength to hit hard.

This game features incredibly difficult mechanics and boss fights. Each area of the game has a unique boss that is different from the normal characters you encounter. There are save spots before and after each boss, so if you mess up and dying (which you definitely will) you won’t be too far from the place in which you died. The currency of the game is souls. Each time you kill something in the world you’ll gather souls. These souls can then be used to upgrade your character and your weapons. Be warned for when you die, you will lose all of your souls. You can go collect them after you die, but if you die before collecting them, they will disappear forever.

This game is available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and 4, and the PC.

  1. Fallout

The Fallout series has been a loved game since it was released. Fans of Skyrim are definitely likely to enjoy this game because it is the same open world type game and style of gameplay. Although this isn’t exactly a fantasy style game, Fallout is set in a post apocalyptic world where it is up to you and only you to survive. You must gather up resources and scrap and make your way through the elements by completing quests and meeting some shady figures.

This game is available for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Play Station 3 and 4, and the PC

  1. The Witcher

The Witcher is one of the most highly anticipated games to have been released recently. It is a relatively new game and won many awards for being a fantasy open world game. It is very similar to Skyrim in the sense that it is completely open world and has a ton of fantasy elements. In The Witcher, you’ll meet all kinds of beasts and magical creatures that you could easily encounter in Skyrim. In The Witcher, you can make your character play the game however you wish, you can be a person who uses magic, or you can be a hack and slasher who wields their sword. Either way, if you’re a fan of Skyrim, I know for sure the Witcher is the right game for you.
