Acer Aspire S 13 Laptop Review: The Acer Aspire S 13 laptop is the Acer’s new crown jewel that is challenging the likes of the MacBook Air and Dell XPS 13. So sticking to its value for money legacy, the new Acer Aspire S 13 range tries to woo the buyers with the good hardware, design and display. The Acer Aspire S 13 was launched in April and its range starts at Rs 59,999. So at this price point, buying the Aspire S 13 may sound unconvincing. In the Indian market the strength of Acer’s core has been in the budget price bracket between Rs 20,000 to Rs. 40,000. So, is the price of Aspire S 13 is worth buying in the premium budget? Let’s check out it in our review.

Design and Display:

On picking up the Acer Aspire S 13 the first thing anyone would notice is that it is lightweight. Also, it is among the thinnest laptops of Acer. With its black textured cover, the looks are unique and thankfully it is not the copy of MacBook. It is quite attractive. However, with the too much plastic, the build quality is pretty average. Acer is adding an aluminium frame. The form factors of the laptop offer a perfect fit but around the screen the thick black plastic bezel looks terrible.Acer Aspire S 13 Ports

The Acer Aspire S 13 features a full-fledged Chiclet backlit keyboard and the keys are spaced perfectly and it also offers a good typing experience. The touch pad on the other hand could have been better.

Despite the Aspire S 13 is thin, but Acer has managed to fit almost all the necessary connectivity ports i.e. 3.5mm headphone/mic, HDMI along with the USB Type-C, two USB 3.0, SD card slot but no optical drive.Acer Aspire S 13 Laptop

It sports a 13-inch Full HD IPS LED display and the good part is that it is not glossy, it means that there are no glares. The display quality is also good and it offers a good viewing angles. The colours are crisp and bright. Watching the movies on the device is a delight but it is non-touch display.

Acer is also offering the Bluelight Shield feature that reduces the strain on the eyes and it comes handy while working for longer duration.

The review unit featured the 6th generation Intel core i7-6500U processor with RAM of 8GB and 500 GB SSD powered by the Windows 10 Home out of the box. Overall, the device was smooth and most of the users will not face much of the hiccups. Along with the music and a photo editor running in the background it can easily handle 15 Chrome tabs on one window. Also when it comes to the regular file operations the Acer Aspire 13 is among the fastest. It takes very little time to startup.Acer Aspire S 13 Keyboard

On the battery front, the Acer Aspire A 13 can last for up to 9 hours on a single charge on the regular usage that includes browsing over Wi-Fi and the device comes with the decent webcam.

On the software front, the Acer has included some useful apps. However, there are few annoying bloatwares as well that the company could have excluded and would have left it to the choice of the users.

The Acer Aspire S 13 comes with one of the best speakers that are found on laptop. The speakers are loud and they produce a clear audio as they are powered by Dolby. You will definitely enjoy watching a movie on it without using the external speakers or headphones. This is not something in this price range that is expected from most ultrabooks.Acer Aspire S 13 Design

In the ultrabook market, the Acer Aspire S 13 offers a good break from the monotonous MacBook clones. It offers the right mix of entertainment and productivity. In India, paying Rs 84,999 for the Acer laptop might seem too much. However, the laptop has the best that the company has to offer for the price.
