This week Apple released iOS 11.4.1 to the public, which is available right now if you are on one of the eligible Apple devices. The new update is the fifteenth update for iOS 11 since it was released way back in September 2017. It is likely going to be the last update before we get to iOS 12.

iOS 12 will be released within the next few months, with it expected in September. There are not any major changes in iOS 11.4.1, but there are many fixes for the various bugs that have been plaguing iOS 11 for some time now. If you want to know more about iOS 11.4.1, read on to learn more to see if this update is worth downloading for you.

New iOS 11.4.1 Update Arrives to the Public

You can find the new iOS 11.4.1 update right now if you have one of the eligible Apple devices that can get this update. To get the new update, just go into the “Settings” and then click on “General.” From there, you will need to click “Software Update” and then your device will be updated to iOS 11.4.1.

If you have an iPhone 5S or newer, then you are going to be eligible for the update, which is most people by this point in time. The iPod Touch 6th generation is also eligible, as well as the iPad Mini 2 or later. You also can get iOS 11.4.1 on your device if you have the iPad Air or newer.

This new update comes just a little over a month after iOS 11.4 was released, which was a pretty major update for Apple. In iOS 11.4, the biggest feature to hit was the Messages support both in iCloud and AirPlay 2. When it comes to iOS 11.4.1, this is a very minor update overall.

It revolves around fixing the various bugs that have been going on since iOS 11.4 was released. We did not find any new features in iOS 11.4.1 during the beta testing. It is pretty crazy to think that iOS 11.4.1 is actually the fifteenth update for iOS 11 overall. We likely are not going to see any more updates for iOS 11 either, since we expect iOS 12 to be released in September.

All the New Fixes for iOS 11.4.1

With iOS 11.4.1, you will find that many fixes have happened, including syncing mail, notes, and contacts with your Exchange accounts. Before it was pretty unreliable in the syncing department, but with this update all of the syncing is more reliable.

If you use Find My iPhone to find your AirPods, you will also be happy with the fixes contained in this update. The issues have been fixed that ended up preventing people from using Find My iPhone to find their AirPods. General stability improvements and quality improvements were also made to HomePod.

You can get the new update if you have an Apple Watch, which will be found using the iPhone app associated with Apple Watch. Just open up the Watch app and then go to “General” and click on “Software Update” to get the newest update. The new update for Apple Watch will show up as watchOS version 4.3.2. If you are still on the iPhone, you will get a notification telling you that there is a new update available, which is iOS 11.4.1, so you can wait for the notification before downloading if you want.

Apple Releases iOS 11.4.1 Ahead of iOS 12 Release

While it is a good thing that Apple has released iOS 11.4.1, since it fixes issues, we are more excited about iOS 12. We expect iOS 12 to become available sometime around September, which is only a couple months away from now. There are many new changes in iOS 12, including Grouped Notifications, Memojis, Animojis, Group FaceTime, and even Screen Time.

Screen Time will monitor the iPad and iPhone usage, and there will also be improvements to the Do Not Disturb function. Apple claims iOS 12 is going to be the next-generation in Apple software, and we are super excited for that. If you have not already done so, you can watch the entire Worldwide Developers Conference, which happened in June and it is where Apple talked about all of the iOS 12 changes.

We want to know what you think about iOS 11.4.1 once you have downloaded it and tried it out. Even though it is only fixes for issues plaguing iOS 11.4, is this an update you plan on installing? Are you just going to wait until iOS 12 is released to update again? Did you watch the Worldwide Developers Conference yet? If you have, we want to know what you think about all of the new features and changes coming to iOS 12.
