Reliance Jio SIM preview offer pegged as mammoth success

Aug 27, 2016

Reliance Jio SIM preview offer pegged as mammoth success: It turns out Reliance has had a bumper opening of its free 4G Reliance Jio SIM preview offer with millions of people across India lining outside its stores to avail the offer. Every Reliance Digital and Xpress Mini store in the country has witness unprecedented queues with people arriving long before the opening hours of the stores just to get their hands on the free SIM being offered by Reliance.

What’s in store? You get a brand new Reliance Jio SIM with 4G connectivity that will offer no strings attached 90 days of free data, voice and SMS. The hype has been building up for quite a while now and as soon as Reliance let the offer lose through its stores across India, people have embraced it with hands wide open.

Reliance is yet to officially reveal what the tariffs will be after the 90 day offer expires and while the question is definitely an important one, it is not that important to stop people from lining up outside Reliance stores. Currently the only requirement to avail the offer – besides being successfully verified – is to have a compatible 4G handset. Quite a few smartphone manufacturers have signed up and prominent among them are Samsung, LG, Asus, Gionee, YU, and Micromax. More are joining hands with Reliance and that’s what is effectively helping Reliance garner a mammoth share of the market before its rivals.

Vodafone, Airtel and other operators in the country are also running such drives, but the reciprocation from the public hasn’t been satisfactory from what we have seen and the key question here is that while Reliance has been successful in garnering such a fan following early on, will it be able to sustain the userbase post the 90-day offer?

Getting the Reliance Jio SIM

The first and foremost thing that you need to keep in mind is that you can only get the free Reliance Jio SIM at a local Reliance Digital or Xpress Mini Store. The second thing about getting the free Reliance Jio SIM is that the rush at these stores would be maddening considering that it is one of the first companies to lure customers through such an offer.

One piece of advice – head on to a store near early so as to beat the rush. If the staff at the store is friendly and well prepared, they will be ready to help and serve customers without delays to keep the rush as low as possible. The form filling activity is the primary requirement and so that’s something you need to do first.

Make sure that you don’t make any mistakes while filling the Customer Acquisition Form (CAF) and all the entries have to be in capital letters. While all bits of information you provide on the form are important, the address part is particularly important and so ensure that you don’t make any mistakes there and if in doubt consult with the staff. The reason behind the accuracy is that they match the address with the address on your document proof. The details are most likely checked automatically through the computer and so chances are mistakes here could lead to automatic rejection.

The documents you will require for the free Reliance Jio SIM with preview offer are a photo id and address proof. A single Aadhaar card (front and back Xerox) is more than enough. Make sure to carry original docs too. Also don’t forget to carry a passport size photo, better carry two just in case.

The SIM is free and it will be activated within 2 days after the documents you provided are verified. In case your application is rejected, you will receive an SMS on the alternate number provided.

Though couple of brands have enrolled, the Jio 4G will work on any handset with 4G LTE support. Now getting a Jio preview SIM for the handset not listed on the official Reliance site might get a bit tricky, well actually depends on Reliance Digital store / Xpress Mini stores – some just ask you if you have a 4G smartphone, no code required just fill form submit documents and that’s it, however some stores will ask for mode, better carry the specific model that is listed and some ask for the generated code.
