A new Google Gboard iOS update was just released this weekend. In the new update, you will notice there are now more tools that you can use to create GIFs. It is important to note that the new Google Gboard update is now available for iOS, but there has not been an Android version released yet. We expect an Android version to be released in the future. For now, we are going to talk about the Gboard iOS update and all of the new tools you will get with this update.
Google Gboard iOS Update Brings New GIF Tools
The biggest feature coming with the Gboard iOS update are the new tools that can be used for creating GIFs. You can now create the GIFs using the keyboard itself, including using new effects to create animations. This is all based off of Motion Stills, and you will have quick access to all of the tools needed to get your GIF done right. It was not that long ago that the Gboard app was updated, since it was back in December that the last update rolled out.
You should be seeing the new creation tools and features for GIFs rolling out right now on the Gboard iOS app. It appears that this is all a server-side update, so be on the lookout the next time you open Gboard. You will notice a new icon on the keyboard suggestion row, which will allow you to launch the camera preview. From there, you can record your own GIF just like you can do in Motion Stills. It is also similar to Motion Stills because you can fast-forward by just swiping and also create loops by swiping. On the top right corner of the keyboard, you will notice the button that allows you to go between the rear camera and the front camera.
Gboard iOS Update Makes GIF Creation Easier
After you are done recording your GIF, you will then see a keyboard overlay. This overlay allows you to see a preview of the GIF you have created to ensure it is what you want. You will now be able to paste the creation into a field that supports the GIF. If you would rather access the tools another way, there is a GIF tab that is dedicated to all things GIF. On the left side of the carousel, you will also see “My GIFs” which is where you can click to get to the tools as well.
You will be able to see all created GIFs in your history and this makes it easy to reuse a GIF when the time is appropriate. If you would like to delete a GIF, that is easy to do since you can just click on the GIF and hold it down. Holding down the icon of the GIF you want to delete makes getting rid of old GIFs very simple.
Benefits of the Gboard iOS Update
We love the new changes that have come to the Gboard iOS app, because these changes make getting to the GIF tools much easier. It was a huge process before since a lot of the tools for the GIFs were hidden and required a long press behind the emoji option. Now, it is very simple to get to all of the GIF tools, whether you are creating a GIF, reusing an old GIF, or trying to delete a GIF. If you would like to check out the new Gboard iOS app GIF tools, you can download Google Gboard for iOS right now from Apple’s App Store.
Those that already have this app installed should see the update within the next few hours if they have not already received the update. Most people should have seen the update roll out this past weekend, although a few people still have not received it as of this writing. Let us know in the comments what you think of this new Gboard iOS update. Do you like how you can easily create a GIF from the regular keyboard? Are you someone who likes to reuse GIFs between conversations? Do you think that this will allow you to communicate easier with your family and friends?
