Grid 2 Removed from Steam without Warning

We have some bad news from Steam this week as it appears Grid 2 has been permanently removed from Steam. This isn’t the first time a game has been removed from Steam without warning and it’s the second game in about a week. Last week, DuckTales: Remastered was actually taken off Steam and this was done without any warning or notification. We have all of the latest details about this game being removed so read on to learn more.

Grid 2 Removed from Steam like Its Predecessor

It’s definitely a little shocking that without warning Grid 2 has been removed from Steam. A lot of people enjoyed playing this PC racing game, but it appears popularity doesn’t matter when it comes to Steam removal. This isn’t the first time that the company behind Grid 2, Codemaster, has had a game removed from Steam.

A couple years ago, the predecessor to Grid 2 was removed from Steam due to expired licensing. We are thinking that Grid 2 was removed from Steam for the same reasons. It either has to do with expired licensing for the soundtrack songs or for the car models itself. Either way, no reason has been given for the removal of Grid 2, at least not at this point in time.

Grid 2 Vanishes from Steam as Questions Surround Reason

There are quite a few questions people have right now about the reason for the game being removed from Steam. Back in March, Grid 2 was offered as a free game through the Humble Store, which is similar to what happened with the original Grid game.

The first game was also offered to people for free and then it disappeared, so there’s questions about what really is going on. It’s possible that the developer knew the game would soon be removed from Steam so it was given away for free to allow as many people to play it as possible.

Whether the expired licenses were for the cars or for the songs, we can basically guarantee that this was the issue, since it was the issue with the first game. If you already have the game, the good news is that you can still download the game on Steam. All of the delisted games on Steam can still be downloaded and played.

It’s important to note that no new updates or purchases can happen once the game is delisted. We’ve already checked and this game was indeed delisted and it will tell you it’s not available. This is definitely a disappointing situation because the game was actually fun to play.

New Grid Game Releasing Soon Amid Grid 2 Removal from Steam

What’s really weird about this news is that there’s a new Grid game coming in October. The game is called GRID, which is really weird since there already was a game with this name previously. This PC game was delayed before, which is why the date of release is now October 11. We will keep you updated on if we hear more details about the upcoming game, but you can keep your eyes open for this upcoming release in the next couple months.

In the comment section below, we want to know if you were playing this game on Steam. Do you think that the reason for removal is the same as the previous game from a couple years ago? Are you hopeful that the new GRID game is going to actually stay on a platform for longer than a year or two? What did you like about the second game and dislike about this racing game? What other racing games do you enjoy on Steam?
