The head of Game Design at Google, Noah Falstein, has decided to resign from his position. He had big plans, and wanted to create amazing Google games, but that will not happen anymore. According to numerous sources, Noah Falstein is looking for a new challenge, something that has been missing at Google. The Google games department hasn’t manage to make a dent into the mobile gaming industry yet, which is very odd for such a large company.

Uncertainty for Google Games

Google regularly presents large plans for new projects, but some of those plans often do not make the cut. Four years ago, Noah Falstein was hired for the position of head of Game Design at Google. He imagined that he would be able to work on big game projects, but this was not what the focus was placed on at Google. Some of the Google games of today, such as Google Doodles, and some virtual games here and there, is not what Noah Falstein imagined when he got hired as head of Game Design.

Noah Falstein

Before Noah Falstein worked at Google, he worked on all kinds of well-known games. Some examples of such games are Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Secret of Monkey Island, and more recently, Alan Wake. When Noah Falstein started working at Google, he imagined that he would be able to make amazing games, since Google is well known for their technologies. Unfortunately, this was not the case, and Noah Falstein didn’t get to work on such exciting projects. This is strange, since the gaming industry keeps growing in size, diversity and geographical reach. Because of this, Noah Falstein decided to leave Google.

Noah Falstein’s Blog

On his own personal blog, Noah Falstein stated that he will miss working at Google. However, after 37 years as a professional game developer, developing games is in his blood. The past couple of years, he mostly worked on explaining Tango and Daydream to other game developers, instead of working on games himself. Because of this, he wants to start working on games again, using the latest technologies in the gaming industry.

Noah Falstein stated that he is also very enthusiastic about how games, neurosciences and VR come together. He continues by saying that he isn’t sure what he will do next, but he is excited about it. It could be anything from neuro-gaming, interactive VR movies, or perhaps a brand new field. Noah Falstein states that he is explore all of his options.
