The company has tweeted in their Android account that Android Auto has entered finally in eighteen new countries (including India) which includes:

  • Austria
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Dominican Republic
  • Guatemala
  • Paraguay
  • Puerto Rico
  • Switzerland
  • Venezuela
  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Chile
  • Costa Rica
  • Ecuador
  • Panama
  • Peru
  • Russia
  • Uruguay

It will be worth mentioning that Android Auto is available already in:

  • Canada
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Spain
  • The US
  • Canada
  • Australia
  • Ireland
  • New Zealand
  • the UK

In the meanwhile, the company also updated Android Auto in bringing it to v1.6.

Also, Android Police brings the latest build features, it includes reliability of improved phone- car connection and also the ability to browse the music collection that too without lockouts even while the vehicle is stopped, especially in bringing a more detailed music collection of interface.

Despite the update the publication reports that on the front end the features are not reflecting in giving a rise to the speculation that a Google Play services update is also required to finally enable the new features.

The rollout in India with the country specific features must see increased adoption by international manufacturers of cars and in dash infotainment and local also. Till now, few domestic car manufacturers have made their adoption on clear plan.

So, if you want to use Android Auto you must have a USB port, a compatible infotainment system, an Android smartphone with version 5.0 Lollipop or above also and finally a USB cable.

Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd had planned to bring Android Auto in its vehicles last year. This the technology, that links with the tablets and smartphones with an in- vehicle infotainment system and also many other manufacturers are expected to follow suit soon.
