iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand Now Totally Free on iOS

If you look in Apple’s App Store, you will notice that Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand are all free. These apps are completely free on both Mac and iOS, which is a first for Apple. When it comes to these important apps, they can help you be more productive both in your professional life and personal life. These apps have never before been available for free for all iOS users.

Before, you needed to have a new Mac device or iOS device in order get these apps for free. That means a purchase was required in order to get iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand free since it basically came as a thank you gift for your new purchase. Now though, you will be able to get these three apps for free without any purchase being required. While this might not seem like huge news, it is definitely huge news for people who own iOS or Mac devices that are a little older.

If you had purchased your iOS or Mac device within the past few years, you were almost guaranteed to be eligible to get these apps for free. For the people out there on older iOS devices though, this news means that you will be able to download these apps and begin using them immediately at no cost.

There is one small issue here, which is that the iWork page is still not showing the new deal, although Apple should be fixing that within the next several hours hopefully. You will still be able to download Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and Garageband, it just seems iWork is having a glitch. Following this news, Apple also removed these apps from the Top Free App Chart.

The hope here, according to Apple, is that businesses and various educational centers will be able to more quickly and easily access and download these apps. The fact that these apps are great for productivity, both at work and school, is why Apple wanted to make it easier for companies and schools to download. So everyone benefits with this news since it was originally marketed towards the educational and business sector, but it is completely free for anyone and everyone owning an iOS device regardless.

If you are someone who has not made a new iOS purchase lately, you can download these apps beginning today. There are no restrictions and there is nothing you need to purchase now or in the future in order to enjoy full access to these apps. If you have purchased a new Mac or iOS device anytime after 2013, then you are eligible for the free downloads anyways so take advantage of that if you have not done so already.

You can head to Apple’s App Store right now and download iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand for free. Hopefully, within the next day or so, you will be able to also download iWork. Make sure you read the compatibility specifications and everything before you download any of these apps to your iOS or Mac to ensure that your device can still run the apps. Since this is available now for people on older devices, you need to make sure that your device can physically handle the app and the possible room it might take up on your iOS device.
