Nokia Android Phone Coming to China Next Week

Jan 12, 2017

Looks like we will have another Android device maker coming out soon as Nokia just announced an Android smartphone that will be out January 19. The bad news though, is that for now, this new Nokia Android smartphone will only be available in China. While China will be getting the chance to purchase the Nokia Android phone first, it will be coming to America very soon.

Nokia Unveils First Android Phone Coming Next Week

Nokia just announced that it will be making its first-ever Android smartphone, which has been dubbed the Nokia 6. The Nokia 6 will be coming to China on January 19, but if you have money you can put your money down to get a preorder on the Android smartphone right now. Nokia teased on the Facebook page that more announcements will be coming on February 26. This date is important because it coincides with the Mobile World Congress. The Mobile World Congress is the biggest mobile showing that happens over in Spain every year. It is expected that Nokia will then have a release date available for the Nokia 6 in the United States and other countries possibly.

It was only a few days ago that the company licensing the Nokia name, HMD, announced that there is a Nokia 6 coming out for China. The odd part though is that Nokia 6 will not be running Google services like Google Play, even though it is an Android device. That is very weird because you will not have a Google account or Google Maps on this device, but that is likely due to the fact these services do not run or work in China. When you look at the possible global release coming in the next month or two, it is likely that these Google services will be enabled for countries like the United States.

If you have never head of HMD before, they have a 10-year license on Nokia-brand products, which means HMD has the exclusivity to sell those Nokia products. Nokia Mobile is the name of the HMD part, but Nokia itself is still a separate company that often times sells various infrastructure equipment for telecommunications.

The specifications on the Nokia 6 are already out there, which include things like a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with this Android phone, and the phone itself has an aluminum chassis. The Nokia 6 comes with a 5.5-inch screen and has a pixel resolution of 1,920×1080. The phone runs on Android software and has 4GB of RAM. As far as the price goes, in China the phone will sell for about $245 American or 1,700 yuan.

Beyond this information, we do not know anything about what the price will be when it hits America, although it likely will be around the $230 to $250 price range. That is simply an estimate based on the price of the Nokia 6 in China. We also do not have a firm date on when the phone will be released in America or other parts of the world, but the company should announce that on February 26 or somewhere around there. We also do not know yet whether the Google services will be on the phone when it hits America, but it is likely that the typical Google Maps and Google Play Store will be available.
