PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG, has now become the third highest-selling Steam game ever. This is pretty amazing news considering that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been slacking lately to the new game Fortnite. Even though the game is getting a little less popular with the Steam community, this is a huge feat. A presentation this past weekend revealed this news and it shows just how popular PUBG still is among Steam users.

PUBG Becomes Third Highest-Selling Steam Game in History

It is pretty cool news that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become the third highest-selling Steam game ever. This game is relatively new all things considered, but it has remained one of the most popular games over on Steam. PUBG is a battle royale game that has been capitalizing on the various innovations and genres in the PC gaming community. This game uses a lot of highly-innovative technology and also uses the multiplayer gameplay to get people interested. When it comes to the PC game development market, China has become one of the leaders and innovators.

It was only one year ago when PUBG first launched into Steam Early Access. The game itself has only been out of Steam Early Access since December 2017. Version 1.0 was released officially, and people in the Steam community quickly jumped to join in the fun. Regular updates happen in PUBG, which also makes it more of a game people want to play. That entices players due to there being new content and features regularly. The developer, which is PUBG Corp., also just sent out some details on what 2018 has in store. There will be a new map coming this year as well as new emotes.

PUBG Breaking All Kinds of Steam Records

Valve has not said which games were in the first and second position for best-selling on the Steam platform. The company is often times tight-lipped about these types of things, so we might never know the answer to that question. When it comes to PUBG, we last heard that the game had sold 30 million copies, and that is a huge accomplishment.

The game has broken a ton of records in the short time it has been on Steam. Comparing this game to DOTA 2, which is usually in second place on the concurrent player counts, would be a little unfair. DOTA 2 is a free-to-play game and PUBG is a game that will cost you $30 to download and play. Considering that you must pay to play PUBG, the fact it has been right there with DOTA in player counts is amazing.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds sees more than 2 million peak concurrent players even still, and that is significant. DOTA 2 usually gets about 570,000 now concurrently. So you can see that PUBG is still way more popular on Steam than even the free-to-play game DOTA 2. PUBG has remained above DOTA 2 on concurrent player counts for a while now. It seems that it will stay that way for even longer.

PUBG Successful on All Platforms

This is not the only place you will find PUBG either, since it is on Xbox One. The Xbox One community has also embraced this game. There are rumors that we will likely see a PS4 version soon too. Even beyond that, there are movies and television shows based off of this game being considered as well. It appears this is a highly-successful game across both Steam and Xbox One. Once the game is released on the PS4, it will make the game even that much more popular.

This is going to be a great game for those looking for an amazing battle royale experience. Tell us in the comments what you think of this game. Do you think the $30 is worth it for PUBG?
