Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual review in first impression: The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was launched in September 2015 and after 4 months the company launched its variant, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual, in January 2016. As the name suggests, Galaxy Note 5 Dual comes with two SIM slots and apart from that, the handset also has a stylus and it runs on one of the fastest chipset. The only two drawbacks of the device are its battery life and its design.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Software

To know more about Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual and its pros and cons, read our review below.

Design and Build

Note 5 Dual comes with a 5.7 inch display and with a metal frame covering its entire body. The front side of the handset is covered by a glass slab and on the top left we have the LED notification light, proximity and ambient light sensor while on the right side we have the front/selfie camera. The home button is positioned at the bottom of the device, which is integrated with the fingerprint scanner, and on its either side we have the back and the capacitive multitasking keys.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual

The 3.5mm headphone jack is located at the bottom, along with, microUSB port, speaker grill, the primary microphone and the S pen stylus.

The rear side is also covered by glass and here we have the main camera at the top, the LED flash and the additional heart-rate monitor. The secondary mic and the dual SIM slot is present on the top edge of the device.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Smartphone

The design looks good but is not suitable for daily use. The greasy back makes the device slipper and thereby, hard to have a strong grip. The other loophole about the design is that its buttons are very thin which feels too sharp when pressed.

The colour saturation is good but the only problem with the colour arises when the device is taken outdoors. When outside, the colours often crank up and therefore the images look different outside when compared to the view indoors.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Sim Slot

The display has a pixel density of 515ppi and therefore the display is quite sharp and vibrant. The device is ideal to watch movies because of its high contrast ratio and great viewing angles.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual offers a 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The screen also comes protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Review

The device comes with Exynos 7420 octa-core processor of 2.1 GHz and it offers 4 GB of RAM. The in-built storage space is of 32 GB and this space cannot be expanded further via a microSD card. Note 5 Dual runs on Android 5.1 and it has the TouchWiz UI at the top.

The TouchWiz UI feels light and it works smoothly without any interruptions. The device has all the usual in-built Samsung apps which can also be operated by the S pen stylus. The handset supports dual functioning of apps and both the running apps work well together.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual First Impression

A lot of apps come pre-installed in the device, like Skype, Whatsapp, Instagram, OneNote etc, which cannot be deleted and therefore they consume a lot of storage space.

The Note 5 Dual offers a lot of customizations and themes which are not restricted to only changing the wallpaper but they also change the notification, ringtones and also the shape and form of toggle switches.

There is no issue with the performance of Galaxy Note 5. The apps opened and closed without any lag in time. And also while minimizing games it didn’t show any sign of slowing down, performing all the task with its Exynos 7420 Octa processor. There was no issue of heating and the device managed to stay cool when playing games and it ran smoothly even at highest settings.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Display

There were many impressive things about the Note 5 too like, the Call quality along with the HD Voice feature made the voice of the caller clear and loud. On the front, the device sports a fingerprint reader which worked fine. Additional with device is the S Pen stylus which does a good job as well. It is very responsive and showcases zero lag along with more accuracy. The sensitivity levels of Note 5 makes drawing sketch or even doodle a blast.

The 16MP rear camera is really very impressive and half the credit goes to the display for showcasing such images greatly. What enables the phone to take those great shots is the combination of f/1.9Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Camera

Aperture, OIS and 16MP sensor. The OIS helps to take blur free pictures and videos. Talking about videos it has a Full HD @60 fps video recording and handled 4K video as well.

Also some really good selfies were taken from the front camera of 5MP and the credit goes to f/1.9 aperture. It really impressive to see Samsung taking Android cameras to new heights.

Battery Life

Samsung has offered a battery capacity of 3000mAh which keeps the Note 5’s weight in check. While Samsung don’t have its own software it does a balancing act very well. Other smartphone may opt to provide huge battery capacity 4000mAh or 5000mAh battery, Samsung choose to keep the unit small.Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual Design

It is also seen that the Samsung still runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and the Marshmallow update had not arrived yet. Samsung has finally included an adaptive quick charger which helps to charge the smartphone in an hour that is quiet quick.

Verdict and Price in India

One of the most polished Note smartphone ever is indeed the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Dual. It has no downsides as well as it is groomed to perfection and well-mannered. Users will love everything about the Note 5 dual from its camera, display, design to even its software.

Considering today’s smartphone market, the Note 5 is a tough sale with Samsung launching the S7 series which also provides better camera quality. But also no other Android smartphone currently available can compete with the Note 5 in terms of performance, display or camera. In-short the Note 5 is an all rounder because finding all the necessary features in one smartphone these days is a tough task for sure. The price of the phone is Rs. 53,500 and the best when it comes to Android.
