Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge roll out with Marshmallow 6.0.1 update in South Korea: Samsung has finally released its much awaited Marshmallow 6.0.1 update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. A beta test program was followed by the release, where the users were allowed to sign up to test the beta Marshmallow firmware. The two variants are officially updating to Marshmallow 6.0.1 for only South Korean users, that is, the users in Samsung’s home market. But it is expected that very soon the international roll-out will begin for the unlocked models.UK can be the among the first territory to receive the updates as it was also involved in the beta test program.

The release of the Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge has somewhat disappointed the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 users who cannot update their devices to the new release. In fact, these two models were not even eligible for the Android 6.0 Beta Test program. Though it is being expected that within few weeks the Marshmallow update will be made available for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users, but till now no official confirmation has been made by the company. Apart from the problem of accessibility of the Marshmallow update on the Samsung models, the time taken by the company to launch the new update was also quite long. The Android 5.0 Lollipop was launched in 2014. Therefore the company has taken considerable time to roll out its new firmware.

There will be and additional quick settings toggle in the status bar for Private Mode, there will be new emoji characters and a new ‘install overnight’ option has been introduced which will install an update overnight between 2 am to 5am. There will also be the new update of facilitating the finger print sensor to be used in the third part apps and if the fingerprint doesn’t gets recognized then the users will only get a vibration feedback.
