We have some good news for you about the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. It appears that both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be getting Android Oreo very soon. Android Oreo is Android 8.0. This is the newest operating system release from Google, and it is slowly trickling out to various Android devices.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Soon Getting Android Oreo

The best part about the news regarding Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ is that a firmware test has already been discovered. This firmware test is for Android Oreo and it is on the latest Samsung smartphones. There is an Android Oreo firmware update out right now with “Z” in the version name. The “Z” has previously always indicated a Samsung device. We know from the Android 7 release that “Z” was also found in the firmware update signaling Samsung devices.

If you are wondering about which Android Oreo firmware versions we are talking about, we will tell you. Both G950FXXE1ZQI7 andG955FXXU1ZQI7 are what we have been looking at. Both of these firmware updates for Android Oreo seem to signal the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. We have not heard that much from Samsung about which devices will be getting Android Oreo. We are likely to see more devices beyond the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ getting the update though. Both some smartphones and some tablets from Samsung will get the update.

As for which ones beyond Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ we still do not know. We can expect all of the Samsung 8 versions, such as the Note8 to get the update. Note7 might get the update, and anything lower than 7 is not likely to be seeing Android Oreo. That is pure speculation though, as Samsung has not released the final details of devices getting Android Oreo.

Android Oreo Firmware for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Discovered

While the firmware for Android Oreo is signaling both Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, we still do not know a release date for this. There will be a beta version most likely before anything else. This means you should not expect an official release of Android Oreo for these devices anytime soon. There will be at least one beta of Android Oreo for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ before the roll out of the final release.

As far as Google goes, Android Oreo is expected to bring many changes. You will notice the changes pretty much immediately. Just like with most Google updates, you should install Android Oreo right away. That is because there are security updates and patches that will stop the exploitation of various vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities could put your Android device at risk for hacks or attacks.

Most people seem to not be as quick to update on Android as on iOS. This is definitely a problem for security and privacy reasons. If you have a newer Samsung device, such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, you should be on the lookout very soon for Android Oreo beta to be released. Remember, all beta updates do carry a little bit of risk, so make sure you backup your data before you decide to install the beta update of Android Oreo.
