We have good news for those of you who use Google Maps on Android as a new update has been released to the app. Found in the latest update is a new Street View layer. This is something that has been around on the desktop version of Google Maps for a while now. Read on to learn more about Street View layer and what this will allow you to do on your Android Google Maps app.

Street View Layer Comes to Android

It’s definitely great news that the Street View layer had made it onto the Android version of Google Maps. The Android app has lacked a lot of the features that have been available on the desktop version of Google Maps. For a lot of people, the lack of cohesiveness between the desktop and Android version has always been an issue. Google knows that Android has fallen behind the desktop version and it appears the company is ready to make Android just as detailed and useful as the desktop version.

The new Street View layer is going to make it so much easier to use the feature and it’s also really intuitive. You will notice that it’s in the same blue color as the desktop version uses, and this lets you see where all of the Google cars have been. Just click on where you wish to go and you will be taken right into Street View. You also can just type out an address to enter this feature, or you can use the Street View app itself.

Google Street View Layer Rolling Out on Android Now

As with most Android updates, this appears to be a slow roll out. That means you might not see the Street View layer right away. It’s rolling out right now to those on Android, but it could take a few days for everyone to see the feature.

We’ve figured out that it appears to be a fairly big roll out at this point, so most everyone should already be seeing this feature on Android. If you aren’t seeing it quite yet, don’t worry as it might still take a couple days to get to your Android device.

Once you have tried out this new Street View layer on Android, we want you to come back here and tell us what you think about it. Do you like that Street View layer is now available on the Android app as opposed to just the desktop version of Google Maps? Have you noticed that Google Maps on desktop is better than the Android app?
