Valve Releases Digital Card Game Artifact on Steam

Jan 15, 2019

The digital card game Artifact is a great new Steam game to get into this winter. This game was made by Valve and it is supposed to be similar to Hearthstone. You probably have heard about Hearthstone before, since it is a successful card game that was developed by Blizzard Entertainment.

There are a lot of card games on Steam that might catch your attention, but this game in particular is a Valve product. Valve decided to bring this game to Steam this week and it is inspired by DOTA 2. Keep reading to learn more details about the new digital card game Artifact, including the price tag on Steam.

Digital Card Game Artifact Now Available on Steam

If you are wondering about the price tag for Artifact, it is going to cost you $20 on Steam to download this game. The title for the game was inspired by DOTA 2 and Valve released this game to be some competition for Hearthstone. As you likely already know, Hearthstone is a very successful card game.

It was released by Blizzard Entertainment back in 2014. In fact, Hearthstone right now has over 100 million players registered and has earned a ton of revenue through the years. The digital card game is a very big marketplace and has a revenue of $1.4 billion altogether.

Valve is hoping to jump into the successful digital card game market with the release of Artifact. There are some differences though between Hearthstone and Artifact that you should be aware of. One major difference is that this game will cost you $20, whereas Hearthstone is a free-to-play game. Even more different is that the $20 is just for the main game itself, as there are also additional cards that you can purchase in the game. That means if you want to get these additional cards for Artifact, you will need to shell out even more money on top of the $20 initial price tag on Steam.

Card Game Artifact is a Similar to Hearthstone But Also Different

So beyond Hearthstone being free-to-play and Artifact costing you $20 plus more for additional cards, there are other differences too. Another difference is that Artifact is only a PC game, and with Hearthstone you can play via mobile or through your PC. Hearthstone is also a much easier game to play than Artifact, which is a lot more complicated. Hearthstone is similar to Magic: The Gathering, and the game play is similar to most other card games.

Artifact is a lot different than Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering in this respect. Meaning, there are three different playing fields, such as what you find in the DOTA 2 map. Not only that, Artifact is a lot more ambitious in overall game play and mechanics. If you are a fan of Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering, then you are likely to be a fan of Artifact too.

For those who are not that familiar with collectible card games, this might not be the best game to begin playing to start out in that genre. Those who are very familiar with that type of game play will have fun with Artifact, although it is more complex. We tried it out during the closed beta and thought it was really fun, although some features of the game have changed since then.

How to Get Card Game Artifact on Steam Right Now

You can get Artifact right now by heading to Steam and going to the Steam Store. The base game itself will cost you $20 as stated above but you might be able to make it back here https://www.casinous.com/sports-betting/. During the closed beta, the monetization practices of Valve came under fire from some players of the game. There was quite a bit of backlash over the monetization situation, as you might except. Due to the responses Valve got over these monetization issues, Valve added a new mode to the game for final release.

This new mode is called Phantom Draft, and it will cost cost tickets like other parts of the game. There was also a new system added to the game before the official release on Steam. The new system would allow you to recycle the cards you no longer want, which is a great addition to the final version of the game. If you played the closed beta, you will notice these changes and other cool additions to the game.

Artifact is out right now on the Steam Store so you can go there right now and download this game. Once you have tried out the game, we want to hear what you think about it in the below comment section. Do you think that this game is way more complicated than Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering? Are you a fan of these collectible card games or do you think that they are just too boring for you to get into?
