We have great news coming out of the Steam world this week as it was announced Warhammer Underworlds: Online would be hitting Steam Early Access sometime late in 2019. Warhammer Underworlds is a deckbuilding strategy card game that is fun and highly entertaining.
This new Steam game will be a conversion of the tabletop game many have come to know and love. We don’t have a specific date of release for Warhammer Underworlds: Online to hit Steam Early Access, but we know some details about the game itself.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online Coming to Steam Early Access in 2019
The first tidbit of information we can give you is that this will be the digital version of the highly successful tabletop game. The creative director is Neil Rennison and he said that this game has a lot of potential to it, including to connect a community of players. This will be a global connection of players from all over the world. We think it will be an incredible experience overall. It definitely seems that the creative director has his eyes set on a huge global community, but we will have to wait and see just how that works out.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online allows you to compete against other players after you build your own decks and choose a warband. This game is a two-player tabletop game and in order to win you will need to have the most Glory. You will be able to get Glory in this game by completing the various objectives and also killing the enemies. Every game should take you about 30 minutes to complete, although it could take as long as an hour to complete each game.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online Heads to Steam as Strategy Deckbuilding Game
In Warhammer Underworlds: Online, your main focus is deckbuilding, since that is the basis of the strategy in this game. You have two different decks which consist of a 12-card objective deck and a 20-card power deck. The 12-card objective deck is best suited for people who like a tactical style and approach to the gameplay mechanics. Using the 20-card power deck allows you to get a ton of powerful upgrades and you will have more unique moves you can make.
Warhammer Underworlds itself is a game that launched back in 2017, with many expansion packs being released since that time. When the game first launched there were two boxed sets, but the expansion packs themselves are now at over 12.
As for Warhammer Underworlds: Online, it is going to be a premium game on Steam Early Access. Another cool feature is that there will not be any micro-transactions in the game. That is great news for people who tend to feel like they are being taken advantage of. Some people really don’t like how many micro-transactions you might need to make in a game to progress quickly.
Once you purchase the game from Steam Early Access, you will be able to get two warbands when the game launches. You will also get two more warbands during the Steam Early Access stage. A good thing about this is that these will not cost you any extra money. So basically once you purchase the game, you will get the extra items at no additional cost. Of course, that could mean that Warhammer Underworlds: Online will be a little bit pricey when it launches on Steam.
That is something we think, but we don’t have any price details yet. We also know there will be free cards added regularly for everyone who has purchased the game. If you do want to make a purchase, there will be a DLC available at some point. We have limited details on the DLC, but we know it’s filled with some warband expansions. The cost of the DLC is unknown right now though.
Are You Excited for Warhammer Underworlds: Online on Steam Early Access?
We know that when the game is fully released there will also be a single-player mode. As with most games on Steam Early Access, it will not have a ton of features to start out. Multiplayer will be the only mode available for Warhammer Underworlds: Online during the Steam Early Access period. Once the game is officially launched, you will see a lot more features in the game.
We are excited for the full release of the game including that single-player mode. You can head to the Steam page for Warhammer Underworlds: Online right now if you want to wish list the game for the future. We hope that eventually we will have a date of release for you. Until then, leave us a comment below and tell us if you are excited for Warhammer Underworlds: Online to come to Steam later this year.
